SUNSHINE can produce sintered fibre parts using a wide variety of stainless steel fibres (typically 50-100 µm dia., but also >50 µm dia).

The main stainless grades used are based on AISI 434, 446, 304 and 316. Other materials, including superalloys can also be sintered on request.

The products are manufactured in the form of sheets, plates, tubes and cylinders and applications include gas filtration, catalyst substrates and noise damping.

Sheets can be made with dimensions of 500 x 200 x 0.5-10 mm with porosities ranging from 85-98%. These sheets can be cut into other parts (e.g. washers and gaskets) or formed into more complex shapes after sintering.

Products can be tailor-made to customer requirements and SUNSHINE’s facilities are ideally suited for prototype work.
